A Different Kind of Christmas at DevHub

Just before the holidays, our Cluj office hosted a Christmas charity fair. We set up tables around the office and sold homemade treats and handmade items that colleagues brought in.

The tables filled up fast with cakes, home-cooked food, and small handcrafted things made by DevHub teammates. Everything was sold internally, and every purchase went straight into the same goal: helping children who need support .

DevHub founder Alin Vădan matched the amount raised, doubling the donation, with the funds going to Casa Aksza, an association which supports children who are orphaned, abandoned, or growing up in vulnerable environments.  “I loved seeing people jump in like that,” Alin said. “If it makes the holidays a bit lighter for the kids, I’m sure everyone is more than glad we did it.”

Teamwork beyond DevHub

The Cluj fair was run in partnership with Rotaract SAMVS, who helped us coordinate everything with Casa Aksza.

And the energy wasn’t limited to Cluj. Similar mini-fairs took place in Timișoara, Iași, and Bucharest, where teams chose local causes to support, including Asociația Părinte Implicat and Fundația Metropolis.

Warm clothes, small essentials, real relief

Alongside the fair, we also ran a winter collection in Cluj for families connected to Parohia Sfânta Treime (Holy Trinity Parish). People brought in warm clothes and shoes, plus toys, school supplies, and a few basic items. The parish helps out through the “Sfântul Ioan cel Milostiv” Social Canteen, where hot meals are served, and people can get support when they’re having a hard time.

Books that will land where they’re needed most

During the same period, DevHub joined Bookster’s national campaign, “Magia unei biblioteci”, collecting books for school libraries in underserved communities. The volumes gathered in the office will reach schools across Romania through partner NGOs.

That’s how our December looked this yearTo the people of DevHub: thank you for baking, bringing things in, buying gifts, donating, helping carry bags, and sorting books. It was kind. It was you.
