7 Years, 7 Lessons: How We Learned to Grow, Adapt & Thrive Together

DevHub started modestly, with two laptops in a living room in Cluj. Years of discipline, trial and error, and a simple reflex of translating problems into numbers and numbers into decisions, shaped what would follow.

Those decisions laid the foundation for DevHub as it is today: a company focused on delivering custom technology solutions that help businesses thrive in a digital world.

As Alin Vădan, the founder of the group of companies that includes DevHub, puts it:

“People define us, products follow.”

After seven years of DevHub the real story isn’t found in milestones or metrics, it lives in the people who made them possible.

We asked seven colleagues to share the most important lesson they’ve learned along the way. What emerged was a chain of insights, each naturally leading to the next, forming a shared philosophy of how our company works, grows, and evolves.

Here are 7 lessons from 7 years, woven into a single story.

1. Control is temporary, adaptability is everything.

Kati Holasz, our Chief Technology Officer, has been part of the DevHub story for nearly three years. Proactive and deeply hands-on, she brings clarity in moments where certainty disappears and her lesson sets the tone for everything that follows.

It all started with a moment of calm so perfect it felt suspicious. Systems green. Roadmap smooth. Everything is under control.

And then the DDoS attack hit.

It was a reminder that in tech, stability can shift in seconds and confidence can turn into chaos in a heartbeat. But what saved the day wasn’t the plan. It was curiosity, and the ability to move with the storm.

Kati’s lesson is simple and powerful:

“In a world this complex, a growth mindset isn’t optional, it’s your only real shield against the unpredictable. In tech, in leadership, in growth, you never truly “arrive.”

And this idea doesn’t stand alone, it echoes through the entire DevHub team.

2. Stay open-minded: change isn’t the exception, it’s the rhythm.

For Ioana Ionetecu , Product Owner  for over a year, change isn’t an interruption, it’s the environment she thrives in every day. Known for her curiosity, she approaches each challenge with a calm, practical mindset.

Roadmaps rarely stay still. Priorities shift. New brands come in, features rotate out. One week performance takes the lead, the next it’s customer value, then the balance shifts again. This constant movement isn’t a sign that something is wrong. It’s a sign that the work is alive.

This isn’t chaos. It’s responsiveness. And being open-minded means choosing to move with change, not push against it.

As Ioana puts it:

“Remaining open-minded allows us to respond quickly, make informed decisions, and deliver the best.”

When everything moves fast, trust becomes the quiet stabilizer. Trust in the people around you. Trust that alignment exists, even when the path shifts.

And that trust creates space, for learning, for better judgment, for growth.

3. Growth takes time and the right people by your side.

Andreea Boghean, Senior Manual QA, joined DevHub only months ago, carrying doubts from a previous job. Curious, diligent, and eager to learn, she quickly discovered a team ready to support, teach, and guide her at every step.

Openness and curiosity thrive only when you’re surrounded by people who lift you up. Progress doesn’t demand perfection, it demands willingness to learn and resilience to keep moving forward.

As Andreea reflects:
“Progress comes gradually, and it’s much easier when you have good people around you.”

This lesson shows that learning is a journey, not a sprint.

4. Radical adaptability accelerates everything

Adrian Zbercea, Head of Engineering, joined DevHub one year ago. Known for his strategic thinking and calm leadership under pressure, he has seen first-hand how sticking to outdated plans slows teams down. For him adaptation isn’t a reaction. It’s a strategy.

Solutions, architectures, team structures all evolve. The moment you cling to something that no longer fits, you slow everything down.

But when you treat every plan as a hypothesis, change becomes a competitive edge. The people who thrive are the ones who adapt fastest, not just to tech, but to roles, responsibilities, and challenges.

Adrian’s insight is clear:

“Beyond simply tolerating change, it means proactively embracing it as the only true constant in our environment.”

5. Prepare for anything and think beyond the obvious

Alexandru Ardeleanu, Team Leader for IT Service Desk, has been on this journey with us for 4 years. Known for his steady approach and clear-headed leadership, he believes that consistency and focus are your secret weapons in the middle of chaos.

Distractions are inevitable, but staying committed to meaningful goals every day turns effort into results.

As Alexandru says:
“Put in consistent effort, show up for your goals every day, because real success comes from dedication. Most importantly, let your results speak for you.”

When focus meets intention, it creates the ground where collaboration and creativity can grow.

6. Showing up with good intentions, it creates the culture we thrive in.

Sergiu Țigan, Senior UI Developer, is known for his thoughtful approach and collaborative spirit. He keeps things simple: do good, be good, and everything else falls into place. In a fast-moving environment, mindset and intentions become the glue that holds collaboration together.

He explains:
“Be good, do good, the rest are details. If you’re a do-gooder, you’ll fit right in.”

Kindness and positivity ripple through the team, allowing creativity and learning to flourish.

7. People make the difference, invest in connections.

Diana Lupșa, Talent Acquisition Specialist from DevHub’s earliest days, has been instrumental in shaping the team and culture we have today. With a keen eye for talent and a genuine care for people, she has witnessed hundreds of journeys start and grow.

All of this confirms the same truth: processes matter, tools help, strategies evolve, but people? People are what make DevHub, DevHub.

The way we show up for each other every day shapes not just our culture, but the meaning of our work.

As Diana says:
“People are the ones who truly make the difference.”

In a world defined by unpredictability, the strongest shield isn’t control, it’s connection.

Final Thoughts

Seven voices. Seven lessons.

One truth stands above all: DevHub thrives because its people show up, not just for work, but for each other, every single day. It’s their curiosity, adaptability, and care that make all the difference.
